Fatah Revolutionary Council calls for unity with Hamas, “popular resistance and its escalation on the ground”
Headline: "The Fatah Revolutionary Council: Jerusalem is our capital, the international community must implement its decisions on ending the occupation"
"The Fatah Movement Revolutionary Council emphasized what was said in the meeting of the Palestinian leadership and [PA] President [Mahmoud Abbas'] speech: Palestine is our land and our homeland, Jerusalem is our capital, and the international community must implement its decisions on ending the occupation and allow our people to realize its sovereignty in its land, its state, and its capital.
In a statement it published after its meeting yesterday [July 23, 2017] in Ramallah, the Revolutionary Council… called on the Hamas Movement to take advantage of this national moment and the unity of the masses in defending the land and the holy sites in order to respond to the initiative of His Honor the President and return our national unity. [The Revolutionary Council] also emphasized 'its choice – the use of popular resistance (i.e., term used by Palestinians, which also refers to the use of violence and terror) and its escalation on the ground, and the continuation of the political and media confrontation with the occupying force until our national goals are achieved.’"
The terms "peaceful uprising/resistance,” and “popular uprising/resistance" are used by PA leaders either to refer to peaceful protest or deadly terror attacks and terror waves. For example, Mahmoud Abbas defined as “peaceful popular” the murderous terror during the 2015-2016 terror wave (“The Knife Intifada”), in which 40 people were killed (36 Israelis, 1 Palestinian, 2 Americans and 1 Eritrean) and hundreds wounded by stabbings, shootings and car ramming attacks: Abbas said: "we want peaceful popular uprising, and that’s what this is." http://palwatch.org/main.aspx?fi=157&doc_id=16437
