Fatah accuses Israel of trying to "desecrate" holy sites, and blames Israel for subsequent violence
Headline: "Fatah: The invasions of the Al-Aqsa Mosque constitute a continuation of the racist Zionist extremism"
"The Palestinian National Liberation Movement Fatah said today [Aug. 1, 2017] in a statement from the information department of the [Fatah] Commission of Mobilization and Organization that the settlers’ incessant invasions of the Al-Aqsa Mosque plazas, under protection of the occupation police, constitute a continuation of the Zionist extremism and a hostile and explicit call to desecrate the sanctity of the sites that are holy to Islam and Christianity in occupied Jerusalem… The Fatah Movement held the Israeli government – as the occupying force – fully responsible for the consequences of this criminal policy and the popular and legitimate rage of the Palestinian masses that it will awaken."
The PA and its leaders consider all of the Temple Mount an integral part of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Therefore they view any presence of Jews on the mount as an "invasion." It should be noted that Jews who visit the Temple Mount only enter some sections of the open areas, and do not enter the Al-Aqsa Mosque or the Dome of the Rock.
