Family of Palestinian who murdered a pregnant Israeli woman: “The Israeli version that has been disseminated is an attempt to tarnish [his] image... an attempt to present him as lacking humanity and a conscience”
Headline: "The family of the person from Nablus accused of killing the female settler denies the Israeli version"
"The family of young Muhammad Al-Kharouf (i.e., terrorist, murdered 1) from Nablus - who is accused of killing the female Jewish settler whose body the police announced they found buried in Holon, which is within the Green Line (i.e., Palestinian term for Israel; the Green Line is the ceasefire line between Israel and the neighboring Arab countries, 1949-1967) - denied the Israeli version regarding this issue. They explained that Muhammad admitted during his trial that he killed her and hid her body in order to exchange it for Palestinian prisoners, and not as was said in the Israeli version (i.e., Israeli police alleged he murdered her due to romantic motives). The Al-Kharouf family noted in a published statement that the Israeli version that has been disseminated ‘is nothing but an attempt to tarnish the image of Muhammad and the struggle of his family that has sacrificed what is dearest to it for the homeland, and also an attempt to present him as lacking humanity and a conscience’… In the statement it was noted that Muhammad was already arrested in 2006 and served 4 years of his life in the occupation's prisons for his resistance activity, and before that he was seriously injured in his abdominal region during confrontations in 2005."
Muhammad Al-Kharouf – 29-year-old Palestinian who murdered Israeli Michal Halimi in May 2017, in Holon, near Tel Aviv, where he buried her body after strangling her and hitting her on the head with cement blocks. Halimi was 8 months pregnant when she was murdered. Israeli police discovered her body on July 24, 2017. Al-Kharouf was arrested and indicted for Halimi's murder - to which he confessed - and awaits trial. Police have attributed his crime to romantic motives, saying they were involved in a relationship - although her family denies a romantic relationship between them, and Al-Kharouf himself claims his motives were nationalistic, saying he murdered her because she was Jewish.
Green Line - 1949-1967 ceasefire line between Israel and the neighboring Arab countries (Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria) following Israel's War of Independence (1948-1949). Land within the Green Line is all part of the State of Israel since 1949. Land outside the Green Line includes East Jerusalem, the West Bank, the Gaza Strip, and the Golan Heights.
