Two Palestinian prisoners receive BA degrees while imprisoned

“Palestine Technical University - Kadoorie and the [PLO] Commission of Prisoners and Released Prisoners’ Affairs celebrated the graduation of the prisoners sitting in the occupation’s prisons, Yusuf Khalayle (PMW was unable to verify the details of his crimes –Ed.) from the Jenin district who received a diploma in industrial automation, and Muhtasib Hamayel (i.e., Fatah terrorist who planned a terror attack, according to Arab sources) from the Nablus district who received a diploma in physical education, and they are among the first students who completed Kadoorie University’s program, which is meant to provide an education to the prisoners.
The ceremony was held in the university’s central building in Tulkarem in the presence of the prisoners’ family, and under the auspices and in the presence of Director of [PLO] Commission of Prisoners and Released Prisoners’ Affairs Issa Karake…
Karake congratulated the prisoners’ families over their graduation, and wished that they will soon achieve happiness and freedom. He thanked [Kadoorie] University President Marwan Awaratani for his efforts in supporting the prisoners and the prisoners’ movement on all levels through a positive response to all of their issues…
It should be noted that prisoner Yusuf Khalayle was sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment, while prisoner Muhtasib Hamayel was sentenced to 18 years of imprisonment (sic., 16 years, according to Arab sources).”
