PLO official expresses support for Venezuelan dictator
Headline: “Khaled expressed solidarity with the people of Venezuela and condemned the American threats”
“PLO Executive Committee member and Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) Diplomatic Bureau member Tayseer Khaled expressed his full solidarity with the friendly people of Venezuela, and his firm condemnation of the American threats to carry out a military offensive against Venezuela that were recently made by American President Donald Trump (see note below –Ed.), in a telegram he sent to Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. Khaled described American President Donald Trump’s threats towards Venezuela as blatant interference in the country’s internal affairs, and as a threat to the stability of the South American countries, and said that they reflect the American empire’s aggressive tendency and its aspirations to impose its rule on the peoples of these countries and their revolutions.”
The mention of US President Donald Trump’s threats towards Venezuela refers to a statement on Aug. 11, 2017, when he said: “We have many options for Venezuela including a possible military option if necessary.” The statement, which followed American sanctions on Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro’s socialist government, was a response to Maduro removing all checks on his power, undermining any semblance of democracy in the country, and brutally cracking down on opposition figures amid economic collapse and mass hunger in Venezuela, all of which has sparked riots and lethal violence.
