Fatah official: Let’s revoke the recognition of Israel
Official PA TV program Topic of the Day, on the attempts to convene the Palestinian National Council - the legislative body of the PLO, hosting Fatah Central Committee member, Fatah Commissioner of Mobilization and Organization in the West Bank, and PLO Central Council member Jamal Muhaisen
Fatah Central Committee member, Fatah Commissioner of Mobilization and Organization in the West Bank, and PLO Central Council member Jamal Muhaisen: "The political leadership is the one who decides at every stage which means of struggle can bring achievements to our people. At the present time, considering the actions of the Israeli government that violate all of the agreements and all of the international decisions, and insist on leaving the Palestinian people under occupation – and that is something we will never accept – and therefore the [political] system needs to invest greater efforts, and that is what will strengthen the ability of the system to continue the resistance in a steady manner, and not in the manner of outbreaks here and there... As His Honor [PA] President Mahmoud Abbas] has said, there are conditions for recognizing countries. When the State of Israel was recognized after the 1948 war, it was in the framework of conditions presented to the Israeli occupation, but they did not respond to them and did not implement any part of them. Today we say that this must be dealt with. I say that we must convene the [Palestinian] National Council (i.e., the legislative body of the PLO) in order to revoke the recognition of the State of Israel, unless there will be mutual recognition between two states - the State of Israel and the Palestinian state."
