PLO official: Summer camps for kids were called “Jerusalem and the Return” due to Israel’s “attempt to take control of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the Judaization of Jerusalem”
Official PA TV program Panorama of the Hour, on the Al-Quds and the Return Summer Camp for children in Gaza, hosting Director-General of Refugee Camps in the PLO Department for Refugee Affairs Mazen Abu Zaid
Director-General of Refugee Camps in the PLO Department for Refugee Affairs Mazen Abu Zaid: “In the shadow of the recent events in Jerusalem, the attempt [by Israel] to take control of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the Judaization of Jerusalem, the summer camps had to be called “Jerusalem and the Return” indicating a very close connection - not just to return to Jerusalem, but to all of the Palestinian villages and cities from which our forefathers were expelled. The close connection to Jerusalem is because it is an important and dear part of our Palestinian land, and it is a basic part of the Muslim and Christian nation’s holy sites. Therefore they need to be named this, as it is important that our small children be aware and know what is happening in [current] events, as they are the foundation of the future."
