Palestinian Ambassador to the UN falsely claims "Jewish extremists" set the Al-Aqsa Mosque on fire in 1969
Headline: “On the anniversary of the attempt to burn the Al-Aqsa Mosque: Ambassador Mansour emphasizes the centrality of the Palestinian cause”
“The member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) yesterday [Aug. 23, 2017] held an ambassadorial meeting at the UN [Headquarters] in New York. During it, the OIC presidency passed from Uzbekistan to the Ivory Coast. Permanent Observer of Palestine to the UN Ambassador Riyad Mansour participated in the meeting as the representative of the State of Palestine. In the statements he made at the meeting, Mansour reminded the member states and the participating delegations of the burning of the Al-Aqsa Mosque by Jewish extremists in 1969 (sic., the arson was committed by Michael Rohan, a mentally ill Christian tourist), [an incident whose anniversary] falls this month. He said that this incident was the reason for establishing the Organization of Islamic Cooperation… He also asked Ivory Coast and the rest of the delegations to work together to prevent Israel from receiving membership at the [UN] Security Council. He said that it is an inappropriate candidate for this role because it not only violates the Security Council’s decisions, but also explicitly and intentionally challenges them while ignoring the laws of the international institutions.”
Michael Rohan - deranged Australian Christian who set fire to the Al-Aqsa Mosque in 1969. For years, the Palestinian Authority has falsely accused Israel of setting the fire.
