FIFA refuses to crack down on hate
By New York Post Editorial Board
The rulers of global soccer regularly crack down on hate — but give a free pass to the Palestinian Football Association.
FIFA, the Fédération Internationale de Football Association, regularly disciplines acts of racism and hate. It hit a Croatian player with a fine of 30,000 euros (about $35,000) and a 10-game suspension for a pro-Nazi shout-out to fans. It even fined the Dutch team 7,500 Swiss francs ($7,900) for a bigoted banner displayed by fans of a visiting team.
But, as the folks at Palestinian Media Watch point out, the PFA gets away with far worse.
The PFA holds an annual tournament named for Abu Jihad, the mastermind in the killing of 125 Israelis. Palestinian clubs routinely honor terrorists, holding banners with their likenesses and naming training camps after them.
And the PFA’s president, Jibril Rajoub, regularly incites hatred and violence, calling Jews “Satans” and “Zionist sons of B?itches.”
PMW filed its complaint with FIFA back in April — but FIFA has done nothing.
In that, it’s like far too many international institutions — refusing to hold Palestinian groups to civilized standards.
