“Al-Quds Open University held its sixth scientific conference on popular heritage yesterday [Nov. 8, 2017], titled The Popular Heritage Conference in the Jenin District and the Galilee: Identity and Belonging, and this was under the patronage of [PA] President Mahmoud Abbas.
As part of his speech on behalf of the president at the conference, [PA] Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah said: …‘For the last seven decades (i.e., since the establishment of the modern State of Israel) our people has adhered to its identity and heritage in the face of the occupation, which is strengthening its control of our country, tearing it to shreds, besieging Gaza, attempting to perpetuate its isolation, and striving to isolate Jerusalem from its surroundings.’”
