PA District Governor glorifies Martyrs in Abbas’ name, and says leadership “opposes all of the pressures whose goal is to harm the allowances of the families of the Martyrs and prisoners”

“The National Association of the Families of the Martyrs (Shahids) [of Palestine] in Tulkarem held the branch’s preparatory conference, with the participation of District Governor of Tulkarem Issam Abu Bakr … At the beginning of the meeting, District Governor Abu Bakr conveyed to the Martyrs’ family members the blessings of [PA] President Mahmoud Abbas, who always emphasizes the status of this group from among our people, which has sacrificed its blood in order to reach freedom, independence, and the establishment of the independent Palestinian state whose capital is Jerusalem. District Governor Abu Bakr emphasized the leadership’s position – which President Mahmoud Abbas represents – which opposes all of the pressures whose goal is to harm the allowances (mukhassasat) of the families of the Martyrs and prisoners and to stop them. This is in order to protect this right, and out of loyalty to those who sacrificed their lives for the homeland, freedom, and liberation from the occupation.”
