Fatah Shabiba Student Movement activist: “This is not welcome among us at Al-Quds Open University. There was a clear decision by University President Dr. Younes Amr to officially boycott the Americans... Take this [USAID sign] down… This course doesn’t interest me. Whoever relinquishes and sells our Al-Aqsa Mosque, for which Martyrs (Shahids), prisoners, and wounded have fallen, and in the end relinquishes it and recognizes it as the capital of the State of Israel does not honor us by being among us. Be well.
(He turns to women in the room:) Girls who agree to sit in a meeting like this, that’s your business, but this course that is supported by the Americans - and the Americans recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel two days ago [Dec. 6, 2017].”

US recognition of Jerusalem as capital of Israel - On Dec. 6, 2017, US President Donald Trump formally recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and instructed the State Department to begin preparations to transfer the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Trump added that the final borders of Jerusalem will be determined during negotiations.
