A notice from the Fatah Movement Revolutionary Council
Wednesday [Dec. 20, 2017] [will be] a day of rage against the discriminatory American decision [recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital]
Yes to an escalation of the popular resistance (i.e., term used by Palestinians, which also refers to the use of violence and terror)
Jerusalem is more precious than our souls
O masses of the fighting Palestinian people
O masses of our Arab and Islamic nation
O all supporters of truth and justice in the world…
Following the meetings of the Fatah Revolutionary Council, a meeting of its members with the participation of members of the [Fatah] Central Committee was held today [Dec. 19, 2017] in order to monitor the developments and consequences of US President [Donald] Trump’s decision to view Jerusalem as the capital of the occupation state…
At the end [of the meeting] the [revolutionary] council decided as follows:
- The American administration is considered a main partner of the occupation in persecuting our people due to its behavior and decisions that support the occupation. In doing so, it isolates itself from the international community…
- The PLO is required at this stage to fulfill its role as the sole source of authority of all of the members of the Palestinian people wherever they are, to seek means of struggle in order to defend our people and return its rights, and to reexamine the Oslo Accords and the commitments the Palestinians made in its framework, but the occupation state did not fulfill them…
- The council called to establish leadership committees in all territories of the occupied State of Palestine in order to lead the popular resistance against the occupation and its settlers…
- The council emphasized that all of the sectors need to participate in the demonstrations, processions, and national activities that will be announced by the central leadership and leadership on the ground. It should be emphasized that this coming Wednesday is a Palestinian-Arab-international day of rage in order to convey a message to US Vice President [Mike] Pence, who is coming to dance on our people’s blood.”
US recognition of Jerusalem as capital of Israel - On Dec. 6, 2017, US President Donald Trump formally recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and instructed the State Department to begin preparations to transfer the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Trump added that the final borders of Jerusalem will be determined during negotiations.
The terms "peaceful uprising/resistance,” and “popular uprising/resistance" are used by PA leaders at times to refer to peaceful protest and at times to refer to deadly terror attacks and terror waves. For example, Mahmoud Abbas defined as “peaceful popular” the murderous terror during the 2015-2016 terror wave (“The Knife Intifada”), in which 40 people were killed (36 Israelis, 1 Palestinian, 2 Americans and 1 Eritrean) and hundreds wounded by stabbings, shootings and car ramming attacks: Abbas said: "we want peaceful popular uprising, and that’s what this is."
