Fatah deputy chairman: “Nothing has come from the US but troubles for the Arab nation and the Palestinian people”
Official PA TV program State of Politics, hosting Fatah Deputy Chairman and Fatah Central Committee member Mahmoud Al-Aloul
Fatah Deputy Chairman and Fatah Central Committee member Mahmoud Al-Aloul: “Now, what’s the story? We must s eriously return to our story with the Americans. I’ll tell you something, and everyone needs to know this very clearly… ‘But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you’ (Quran, Sura 2:216, Sahih International translation). This is an opportunity for us to get into an argument with the USA. If someone has an illusion or belief that the US – up till now – that something good might come from it to the Palestinian people or to the Arab nation – let them come debate us. The matter has been clarified. Nothing has come from the US but troubles for the Arab nation and the Palestinian people. We never speak in slogans. We speak in the language of logic. Let someone examine the connection with the US, not just with [US President Donald] Trump [but rather with] all of the American administrations that have come one after the other. The American president (sic. presidential candidate) comes during the election campaign and gives you [the PA] several promises. You represent a nation and this nation has a few financial opportunities, gas, and such. It has a few communities in exile in the USA that may take part in their elections and such, and [the president] gives you several promises. He is elected, and after a few weeks he is subjected to pressure from the Zionist lobby and all of his promises completely dissipate. Afterwards they come and tell you that you need to wait for the mid-term elections. This [has happened] with all of the [US] administrations that have come one after the other. We have experienced this whirlwind that is a performance that repeats itself and doesn’t end. Let whoever has something to say [backing the claim] that something good has come from the Americans over the years for us [Palestinians] and for the Arab nation - whoever has something [backing this claim], let them come and say, ‘Here we are!’ Let them tell me what has come from the Americans in the years that have passed. Nothing at all! […]
For the sake of Jerusalem we have been forced to deal with this challenge that the USA has placed. We ask the people, for Allah’s sake, we beg of you, [pay attention that] our compass [as Arabs] is towards Jerusalem. We have no enemy other than the Israeli occupation and the policy of the USA is a partner to [Israel] in the occupation. This is our main enemy.”
