Op-ed in PA daily calls President Trump “stupid,” following his recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital

Excerpt of an op-ed by Yahya Rabah, regular columnist for the official PA daily

Headline: “The great lie”
“There is no greater lie in the Israeli media than the lie of ‘unified Jerusalem’… You have Jerusalem and we have Al-Quds. [Former Israeli Presidents and Prime Ministers Levi] Eshkol, [Menachem] Begin, [Yitzhak] Rabin, [Yitzhak] Shamir, [Ehud] Barak, and [Benjamin] ‘Bibi’ [Netanyahu] have not succeeded in unifying it… There is no border strip that separates east and west [Jerusalem], no reinforced cement separation wall, and no trenches . You drive in your car from Sha’ar Hagai, through Abu Ghosh, and enter western Jerusalem. You travel and find yourself in front of a celestial wall that tells you: ‘Here begins Arab Jerusalem.’ The atmosphere changes, a breeze scented with the fragrance of history blows, and then you say: ‘How stupid is this man whose name is [US President Donald] Trump!’
Several years ago I was visited by Dr. Jamal Al-Assadi… who translated my collection of stories A Rose to Hafeeza’s Eyes into English, together with American author Martha Moody and her little son. While we were eating lunch I said: ‘I think that [former US] President George Bush, the son, is the stupidest president that America has known.’ The author’s son stopped eating, looked at me in amazement, and said to his mother: ‘I play a game with my friends in the schoolyard [called] Stupid President Bush!’
What are the children in America playing today?”
