PA Parliament Member: Trump is “stupid… [not] worth a woman’s shoe;” Fatah official: Trump is a “predatory beast”
Official PA TV program Palestine This Morning, broadcast from the Qalandiya refugee camp on the responses to US President Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, interview with Fatah Secretary of the Qalandiya Refugee Camp Zakariya Fayala
Official PA TV reporter: “What is your response to [US President Donald] Trump’s ominous decision [to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital]?”
Fatah Secretary of the Qalandiya Refugee Camp Zakariya Fayala: “Unfortunately, the Palestinian people has been suffering from this for a long time, since 1917, when the ominous promise, the Balfour Promise (i.e., Declaration), gave the Israelis – that which is called ‘the Israeli entity’ – the State of Palestine as a present. [Since then] and to this day, the Palestinian people has been suffering from troubles and disasters… After approximately 100 years, someone [Trump] pops up who has no ownership and he gives Jerusalem - the place of Prophet Muhammad's Night Journey - as a gift to one who has no right [Israel]… We will defend Jerusalem with all of our strength. The Palestinian people is stronger than any weapon possessed by the world thanks to its willpower, its resolve, and the blood of our righteous Martyrs (Shahids) who watered the beloved land of Jerusalem [with their blood]. We will follow this beast of prey’s steps, unfortunately, who 100 years later is incapable of doing anything other than giving an additional ominous promise regarding Jerusalem.”

US recognition of Jerusalem as capital of Israel - On Dec. 6, 2017, US President Donald Trump formally recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and instructed the State Department to begin preparations to transfer the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Trump added that the final borders of Jerusalem will be determined during negotiations.
The Balfour Declaration of Nov. 2, 1917 was a letter from British Foreign Secretary Arthur Balfour to Baron Rothschild stating that “His Majesty's government views with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people.” In 1922, the League of Nations adopted this and made the British Mandate “responsible for putting into effect the declaration,” which led to the UN vote in 1947 and the establishment of the State of Israel.
