Op-ed in official PA daily: “The colonialist West created the colonialist State of Israel” to destroy the Arab world; US aid to the PA “is not meant to protect the interests of the Palestinian people”
Excerpt of an op-ed by Omar Hilmi Al-Ghoul, regular columnist for the official PA daily
Headline: “The philosophy of financial aid”
“In order to serve its colonialist project in its old and new forms, the colonialist West created the colonialist State of Israel in the heart of the Arab homeland – at the expense of the interests and the Nakba (i.e., “the catastrophe,” the Palestinian term for the establishment of the State of Israel) of the Palestinian Arab people – following World War II. This was in order to tear apart the states and peoples of the Arab nation, plunder their resources, ensure that they would continue to serve as a market for its merchandise and products, and prevent the consolidation of the pan-Arab awakening project.
What is more, the aid states and the loans that are provided by the capitalist states in general, and the US in particular, never came out of piety or because of the beautiful eyes of the poor peoples. This was systematic and calculated aid that was meant to serve their strategic goals and interests. Therefore, the financial and economic aid to the Palestinian Arab people by the US is not for free, and is not meant to protect the interests of the Palestinian people. This is conditional aid, and its price is defending the essential interests of the US in the region, not endangering them, and accepting the American sponsorship of the peace process, including recognition of Israel and holding negotiations with it in order to reach a political solution.”
