“The Fatah Movement emphasized that for the Palestinian people, the battle of Jerusalem is a battle for existence, national identity, and the state, and [Jerusalem] is the political capital of the State of Palestine and an inseparable part of the occupied territories of the State of Palestine, and there is no solution without Jerusalem as our eternal capital.
[Fatah] Movement Spokesman and [Fatah] Revolutionary Council member Osama Al-Qawasmi said in a press statement yesterday [Jan. 7, 2018]: ‘We in the Fatah Movement are continuing in our struggle and resistance to the ominous American announcement on Jerusalem; to all of the racist Israeli decisions and steps that are directed against our existence, our history, and our authentic narrative; and also to their attempts to falsify history and produce facts that are the product of their imagination.’”
US recognition of Jerusalem as capital of Israel - On Dec. 6, 2017, US President Donald Trump formally recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and instructed the State Department to begin preparations to transfer the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Trump added that the final borders of Jerusalem will be determined during negotiations.
