Is the PA trying to launch a new terror campaign?

Terror incitement broadcasts from past PA terror campaigns
were rebroadcast last month at least 46 times by the PA
  • Official PA TV rebroadcasts 41 times Abbas' call to prevent Jews "in any way" from "defiling... our holy places," which in 2014 was broadcast 32 times during the Palestinian terror wave in which 12 Israelis were murdered

  • Song calling for murder repeatedly broadcast by official PA TV in 2000 when the PA launched its terror campaign - the second Intifada - has also been broadcast again 5 times

  • There was a dramatic rise of Palestinian terror attacks during December: from 84 in Nov. 2017, to 249 in Dec. 2017, according to the Israeli Security Agency

A speech by PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas and an inciting music video that the Palestinian Authority broadcast repeatedly in the past when it wanted Palestinians to commit terror attacks have been rebroadcast by official PA TV and radio at least 46 times since the US recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

Abbas’ speech used to incite terror in 2014

On Oct. 17, 2014, Abbas claimed that Jews’ presence on the Temple Mount was “defiling” an Islamic holy site. He called “to prevent them, in any way,” which is a Palestinian euphemism for violence and terror. Thus implicitly encouraging Palestinians to attack Israelis, PA TV replayed Abbas' call for violence 19 times in three days and eventually broadcast it 32 times during the next month. Five days after the first broadcasts, two Israelis were stabbed to death, and during that month numerous Palestinians heeded the call, using knives, guns and car rammings to murder 12 Israelis.

On Dec. 6, 2017, the day US President Trump recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, PA TV and radio started rebroadcasting Abbas’ old call to confront Israelis in “any way.” By the beginning of January it had been rebroadcast at least 41 times.

There is no reason for the PA to be rebroadcasting Abbas’ message now unless it is hoping to generate terror again as it did in 2014.

2014
2017-2018

PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas: “We have to prevent them, in any way whatsoever, from entering the Sanctuary. This is our Sanctuary, our Al-Aqsa and our Church [of the Holy Sepulchre]. They have no right to enter it. They have no right to defile it. We must prevent them. Let us stand before them with chests bared to protect our holy places."
[Official PA TV, Oct. 17 - Nov. 4, 2014;
Official PA TV and PA radio station The Voice of Palestine, Dec. 6, 2017 - Jan. 1, 2018]

Music video used to incite terror in 2000  - the launch of the PA terror campaign (the second Intifada)

A Palestinian music video, which explicitly calls for violence, is likewise being rebroadcast now by PA TV. The song was broadcast in 2000 immediately after then Israeli Parliament Member Ariel Sharon visited the Temple Mount. The PA then used the song as a rallying cry for terror, broadcasting it dozens of times. It served as part of the launch of the PA’s terror campaign, known as the Al-Aqsa Intifada, during which Palestinians carried out numerous terror attacks including suicide bombings, murdering over 1,200 Israelis. The song includes these words:

2000
2017 - 2018

“The oppressors have gone too far,
Therefore Jihad is necessary...
Draw your sword from its sheath, and let it not return to the sheath afterwards...
Palestine, our chests will defend you - life or death”
[Official PA TV, Dec. 17, 25 and 26, 2017; Jan. 2, 2018]

Now PA TV has chosen to rebroadcast this song, adding to it images of clashes between Palestinian rioters and Israeli police and soldiers. Since mid-December 2017, the song has been broadcast at least 5 times. - And so viewers will have no doubt as to the reason for the calls for violence, the video includes a few seconds of Trump’s speech recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

PA TV and radio are owned and controlled by the PA leadership. Their choosing to recycle these “successful” calls for terror now is another indicator, together with the other calls
encouraging violence. Palestinian Media Watch has reported on, that the PA leadership has been trying to ignite terror as a response to US President Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital on Dec. 6, 2017.

The result of the heightened PA incitement has been a dramatic rise of Palestinian terror attacks. According to the Israeli Security Agency,in Nov. 2017 there were 84 Palestinian terror attacks, compared to 249 in Dec. 2017.

The following are the full texts of the two terror incitement videos:

On Oct. 17, 2014, Abbas called for violence; official PA TV then rebroadcast it over 3 weeks - 32 times. During that month Palestinians murdered 12 Israelis.
On Dec. 6, 2017, the day US President Trump recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital, official PA radio and TV started rebroadcasting Abbas' 2014 call for violence... and in the next 4 weeks - rebroadcast it 41 times!

Official PA radio - 28 times

PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas: "This is our Sanctuary, our Al-Aqsa and our Church [of the Holy Sepulchre]. They have no right to enter it. They have no right to defile it. We must prevent them. Let us stand before them with chests bared to protect our holy places."
[Official PA radio station The Voice of Palestine, 28 times,

Official PA TV - 13 times

PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas: "We must all carry out Ribat in the Al-Aqsa [Mosque]... This is our Sanctuary, our Al-Aqsa and our Church [of the Holy Sepulchre]. They have no right to enter it. They have no right to defile it. We must prevent them. Let us stand before them with chests bared to protect our holy places."
[Official PA TV, 13 times, Dec. 17, 2017 - Jan. 2, 2018]

While this call for violence by Abbas was repeatedly broadcast in 2014, the following 12 people were murdered:
Oct 22, 2014: Two Israelis were murdered in car rammings in Jerusalem: Chaya Zissel Braun (3 months); Karen Jemima Mosquera (22).

US President Donald Trump recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel on Dec. 6, 2017, and instructed the State Department to begin preparations to transfer the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Trump added that the final borders of Jerusalem will be determined during negotiations.

Abbas' speech originally aired on Oct. 17, 2014 and was broadcast a total of 29 times that month. It was also broadcast 3 times on Nov. 1 and once on Nov. 4, 2014.

PA TV reuses song broadcast in 2000 calling for terror: "Draw your sword... let it not return"

During the first days of the PA terror campaign (the second Intifada), PA TV repeatedly broadcast this song calling for terror:

Lyrics: “Brother, the oppressors have gone too far
Therefore Jihad is necessary and self-sacrifice is necessary.”
[PA TV, Oct. 3, 2000]

On Dec. 17, 2017, PA TV started rebroadcasting the same song calling for terror, adding an intentionally blurred and indistinct version of Trump's speech recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

Lyrics: “Brother, the oppressors have gone too far”

US President Donald Trump, Dec. 6, 2017: “Today, we finally acknowledge the obvious that Jerusalem is Israel's capital.”

Lyrics: “Therefore Jihad is necessary
and self-sacrifice is necessary...
How can we let them steal the Arabness -
the glory of the forefathers and the rule? ...
Draw your sword from its sheath, and
let it not return to the sheath afterwards...
Brother, rise to [Jerusalem],
the [first] direction of prayer
We will defend the church
and the mosque...
Brother, if my blood will flow in the soil,
and my hand will lay on its stones
Then find a free soul that has refused
to let enemies step on it
Kiss a Martyr on the land, who called on
its behalf to Allah and fell as a Martyr...
Palestine, the young people
will redeem your territory
May the self-sacrificing fighter
and the redeemed [land] be exalted
Palestine, our chests will defend you - life or death.”
[Official PA TV, Dec. 17, 25 and 26, 2017; Jan. 2, 2018]
