Abbas: The PA must cut relations with any country that recognizes Jerusalem as Israel`s capital

PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas in speech to PLO Central Council: "We made a decision at the [Arab] Summit in Amman in 1980 that every state that recognizes Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, or that transfers its embassy to it – we must cut our relations with it."

Abbas made this statement in response to US President Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital on Dec. 6, 2017. Trump instructed the State Department to begin preparations to transfer the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. He added that the final borders of Jerusalem will be determined during negotiations.
