PLO official attacks US for describing head of Hamas terror organization as a terrorist
Headline: "Khaled: The US is giving Israel a green light to renew its terror operations"
"PLO Executive Committee member and member of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) Political Bureau Tayseer Khaled condemned the fact that the American administration has put Chairman of Hamas' Political Bureau [Ismail Haniyeh] on its black list (i.e., the US terror list). He described this decision in his post on social media as a green light to Israel to renew its policy of assassinations and terror operations against the Palestinian leaders.
He added and explained: 'In a new escalation by American President Donald Trump’s administration, the US put Chairman of Hamas' Political Bureau brother Ismail Haniyeh on what it calls “the black list of terrorists,” according to what American Secretary of State Rex Tillerson announced, when he said that the chairman of Hamas' Political Bureau “is threatening the stability of the Middle East” and “undermining the peace process” with Israel.'
Khaled wondered: ‘What peace process is the American administration talking about, when it is the one who has destroyed all the opportunities to reach an arrangement regarding the Palestinian-Israeli conflict throughout the decades in which it took on itself the sole patronage of the negotiations between the Palestinians and Israelis, during which it carried out a policy of blind bias in favor of the Israeli government’s policy of aggression, settlement, and hostility to peace?’”
Chairman of Hamas’ Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh was added to the US terror list by the US State Department on Jan. 31, 2018. The US also added others to the list, and US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson stated: “These designations target key terrorist groups and leaders — including two sponsored and directed by Iran — who are threatening the stability of the Middle East, undermining the peace process, and attacking our allies Egypt and Israel.”
