“A minute or two after the end of the morning prayers that took place 24 years ago, [Ibrahimi] Mosque (i.e., Cave of the Patriarchs) Imam Adel Idris read the words of Almighty Allah from The Prostration Sura: ‘Only those believe in Our verses who, when they are reminded by them, fall down in prostration and exalt [Allah] with praise of their Lord, and they are not arrogant’ [Quran, Sura 32:15, Sahih International translation]. Afterwards, he prostrated himself and the worshippers followed him, and that was the last prostration of 29 of the worshippers of the Ibrahimi Mosque.
Imam Idris reenacted the events that preceded the massacre that took place on Feb. 25, 1994, and said: …‘The terrorist [Baruch] Goldstein was behind the worshippers, and the occupation army protected him, and more than 15 settlers who were in the mosque’s courtyard also opened fire in order to save Goldstein after he committed the massacre (sic., an Israeli investigation proved that Goldstein acted alone)… This massacre was also planned, and not the outcome of an idea of Goldstein alone, as the Martyrs (Shahids) and wounded were wounded by several types of bullets (sic., an Israeli investigation of the incident disproved these claims).
Cave of the Patriarchs massacre - On Feb. 25, 1994, Baruch Goldstein, a member of an Israeli far-right movement, opened fire on Muslims praying inside the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron, known to Muslims as the "Ibrahimi Mosque," murdering 29 and wounding 125. Following the attack, which was widely condemned by Israeli leaders and Jewish communities abroad, the Israeli government took concrete steps to prevent similar attacks from occurring by dividing the area of worship into Muslim and Jewish sections and designating several extremist movements, including Goldstein’s, as illegal terrorist groups.
