PLO official honors mother of terrorist murderer, saying his actions constitute “a message of loyalty, love, and support for our heroic prisoners”

“Director of [PLO] Commission of Prisoners’ Affairs Issa Karake and a delegation from the [PA-funded] Prisoners’ Club… honored the mother of prisoner Nasser Abu Sorour (i.e., terrorist, participated in murder of 1)… one of the most veteran prisoners who the occupation authorities refused to release as part of the fourth group whose release was agreed on with [PA] President Mahmoud Abbas in 2014 (see note below –Ed.). He was sentenced to life… Karake said that honoring Um Nasser (i.e., Abu Sorour’s mother) constitutes a message of loyalty, love, and support for our heroic prisoners, and especially the veteran ones… and also constitutes a response to the racist Israeli policy, which is expressed by harming the prisoners’ rights, the incitement against them, and the legislation of racist laws against them. He said that the prisoners are a symbol of the Palestinian national liberation movement and a symbol of the defense of freedom and dignity.”
Mahmoud and Nasser Abu Sorour – Palestinian terrorists who participated in planning and carrying out the assassination of Israeli security agent Haim Nachmani on Jan. 3, 1993, in Jerusalem. Each is serving a life sentence.
In August 2013, Israel agreed to release 104 Palestinian terrorists from prison, which was the PA's precondition for renewing peace talks. The terrorists were released in stages. The first group of 26 was released on Aug. 13, 2013. The second group of 26 was released on Oct. 30, 2013. The third group of 26 was released on Dec. 30, 2013. The fourth group was scheduled to be released on March 29, 2014, but Israel delayed their release while negotiating the terms for continuation of the peace talks. When the PA submitted requests for admission as a state to several international bodies, Israel cancelled the release.
