PLO official attacks Israeli bill which would deduct money in the amount the PA pays terrorists from taxes Israel collects for the PA, says terrorist acts are internationally legitimate
Headline: “Karake: ‘Confiscating the [PA] tax money is theft under the protection of the law’”
“Director of [PLO] Commission of Prisoners and Released [Prisoners’] Affairs Issa Karake said: ‘The fact that the Israeli Parliament “Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee” approved the bill to confiscate the PA’s tax money in a second and third reading (sic., the committee approved the bill for a second and third reading in the Israeli Parliament; see note below –Ed.) on the pretext that [it serves as] support for the families of prisoners, Martyrs (Shahids), and wounded, and to direct this money to the benefit of Israeli terrorists and settlers (sic., under the bill the deducted money would cover court ordered compensation for the PA to terror victims and projects to eliminate terror), is more despicable and immoral than war itself; it is skinning the Palestinian people alive, determining legislation that is nothing but “grinders of humans” under the protection of the law, looting, and stealing under the protection of the law.’
He said: ‘The goal that Israel and the US want to achieve through this blackmail and pressure on the PA, more than being financial, is meant to define the entire Palestinian national struggle as “terror” and a “crime.” [The bill] makes the Palestinian resistance to the occupation – which the prisoners, Martyrs, and wounded represent – illegitimate and stripped of its legal and humanitarian foundations, and of the international legitimacy that permits every people subjected to occupation to resist it for its freedom and self-dignity.’
Karake added: ‘Israel, by attacking the families of the prisoners, Martyrs, and wounded, wants to come out pure, clean, and innocent of our blood, pain, and ongoing disasters that have been caused as a result of the Israeli occupation. If it succeeds in this and we surrender to the Israeli-American pressure, then our petition to the International Criminal Court will be the object of ridicule after we have admitted that all the forms of our resistance to the occupation (i.e., term used by Palestinians, which also refers to the use of violence and terror) are crimes and terror.’”
Bill to deduct terror salaries from PA tax money - A bill to deduct the amount of money the PA pays imprisoned terrorists and families of "Martyrs" from the tax money Israel collects for the PA, which passed the Israeli Parliament Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee unanimously on June 11, 2018, clearing the way for a second and third reading in Israeli Parliament. The bill would enable the deducted money to be used to pay the amounts awarded to terror victims in lawsuits against the PA or individual terrorists, and for projects aimed at eliminating terror.
The terms "all means”, "all means of resistance," “all forms,” are used by PA leaders to include using all types of violence, including deadly terror against Israeli civilians such as stabbings and shootings, as well as throwing rocks and Molotov Cocktails.
