Op-ed in official PA daily: “[The Palestinians] are the owners of all of this country, including the part on which the racists established what they call `Herzl`s dream – the state of the Jews’!"

Excerpt of an op-ed by Muwaffaq Matar, Fatah Revolutionary Council member and regular columnist for the official PA daily

Headline: "The Jewish nation-state law – Israel's bogus democracy!"

"The position the members of the Joint [Arab] List in the Israeli Parliament took towards the [Jewish] nation-state law will be noted to their credit, as they did not express their opposition as occurs in every parliament in the democratic world during the discussion of the clauses of any law, but rather did better and tore up its text, which the racist extremists consider 'sacred,' and threw it in the face of [Israeli] Prime Minister [Benjamin Netanyahu] of the 'racist state of the Jews,' as it should now be called after the ratification of this law. This was a historic moment that will be noted to the credit of the members of the Joint List, in which the Arab members of the Israeli Parliament proved their superiority and earned national accolades, while those failing took pride in their echoing failure when they codified 'the racial superiority of the Jews' and allowed the legal legitimization of discrimination against two million Palestinian Arabs, whom this law considers a minority. This is while the world knows that they are an inseparable part of the Palestinian people, who are the owners of all of this country, including the part on which the racists established what they call '[Zionist leader Theodor] Herzl's dream – the state of the Jews’!"

Jewish Nation-State Law – law passed by the Israeli Parliament on July 19, 2018, which codifies in Israel's Basic Law that Israel is the home of the Jewish nation with Jerusalem its capital, and the Hebrew calendar its official calendar. It establishes Hebrew as the sole official language and grants Arabic a special status, and it recognizes Jewish and Israeli holidays, memorial days, and the Jewish Sabbath as national holidays and days of rest - while guaranteeing the right of all Israeli citizens and residents to celebrate their holidays and days of rest.
