Op-ed in official PA daily accuses Hamas of “sacrificing members of our people, the children and the young people”
Excerpt of an op-ed by Omar Hilmi Al-Ghoul, regular columnist for the official PA daily
Headline: "Hamas maneuvers and the sponsor [Egypt] is broiled in the sun"
"Every civilian and person that follows the [Hamas-Fatah] reconciliation process can see that the Hamas Movement always finds false excuses and invented excuses to put a stick in its wheels and to thwart its progress, as this is not an interest of the Muslim Brotherhood. Therefore, it has again turned to creating a fictitious escalation on the border and to sacrificing members of our people, the children and the young people, for the sake of its separatist statements, in exchange for cooperation and running through the maze of the American deal of the century (i.e., US President Donald Trump's as yet unpublished Middle East peace plan). This is despite the fact that even the Americans themselves have begun to gradually back down from this given the difficulty in marketing and making it pass due to the firm stance of [PA] President Mahmoud Abbas and the PLO leadership against it, alongside its rejection by the UN and the world's central authorities."
