PA TV reports on comprehensive list of Palestinian Martyrs, including suicide bomber Wafa Idris
The program Palestine This Morning interviewed Dr. Assam Al-Aruri, director of the Al-Quds Center for Legal Assistance and Human Rights, concerning a new book, We Have Names, We Have a Homeland, documenting the names of Palestinian Martyrs (Shahids) whose bodies are being held by Israel. The program broadcast a display of photographs of “Martyrs” whose bodies are being held by Israel, including suicide bomber Wafa Idris. Al-Aruri says that the Palestinian government has decided to declare Aug. 27th a national day of remembrance for Palestinian MIA's, since that was the date when the campaign was launched in 2008. Al-Aruri describes the book as including a photograph of each “Martyr” with his/her name, and the date and circumstances of his/her Martyrdom-death, with a view to liberating the “Martyr” from numerical confinement and transforming him into a face with a name.
Note: “Numerical confinement” is a reference to Israeli cemeteries for terrorists and enemy soldiers, where bodies are buried in numbered caskets, after their identities have been documented.
