Interview on PA TV: Conflict is religious, Jews “falsely claim” 3000 year old Jewish history in Silwan in East Jerusalem
Official PA TV program Jerusalem Sights, focusing on Silwan
Interview with Fakhri Abu Diab of the Silwan and Al-Bustan Neighborhood Defense Committee
Silwan and Al-Bustan Neighborhood Defense Committee memberFakhri Abu Diab: "It is true that concerning Silwan, the conflict is a political and religious conflict. Obviously, more complicated than the political situation is the religious situation between us as Muslim Palestinian Arabs and the Jewish settlers, who falsely claim that this area – Silwan – was the start of their first state 3,000 years ago, and that the one who established the state of the Jews, that is to say according to their claims, was King David and afterwards [King] Solomon. That was the beginning of the first Jewish state. They have a principle, and they have determined a strategy, which is to restore the first area that was the beginning of the first Jewish state – restoring it in such a way that it will be the capital of the State of Israel, as they claim."
