Abbas advisor posts image of coin from British Mandate as ‘proof’ that a state of “Palestine” pre-dated Israel
Image and text posted on the Facebook page of Supreme Shari’ah Judge and PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’ advisor on Religious and Islamic Affairs Mahmoud Al-Habbash
The image shows a British Mandate coin from 1927 with “Palestine” written on it in Arabic, English, and Hebrew – following the Hebrew "Palestine" is an abbreviation of the words “the land of Israel.”
Posted text: “The Palestinian coins (sic., the image is of a British Mandate coin) are more ancient than the occupation, and if Allah wishes they will return. When? Possibly soon.”
Mahmoud Al-Habbash also holds the position of Chairman of the Supreme Council for Shari'ah Justice.
