PA Prime Minister guarantees freedom of press and speech in the PA

Official PA TV newsreader: “[PA] Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh said that ‘we will be loyal to the pen and to the freedom of the press and of speech, and also to receiving constructive criticism and working according to it, through policy and legislation to protect the civilians and journalists.’ This was during his meeting in his office in Ramallah with a delegation from the Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedom – MADA, in which he learned about the nature of the center’s work and its most important achievements on the local and international level. Shtayyeh emphasized the center’s importance and role on the level of the press freedoms and strengthening freedom of speech, in addition to its role in monitoring the Israeli attacks against the Palestinian journalists. The prime minister received a report from the delegation on the 2018 press freedom index in Palestine, in addition to a report on the harm to the press freedoms in Palestine.”
