Headline: “A PLO delegation meet with the Syrian deputy foreign minister”
“A PLO delegation led by PLO Executive Committee member and Fatah Central Committee member Azzam Al-Ahmad met yesterday [July 23, 2019] with Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad in the Syrian Foreign Ministry headquarters in Damascus.
The delegation included PLO Executive Committee member Wasel Abu Yusuf, Head of the PLO Refugee Department and PLO Executive Committee member Ahmad Abu Houli, Fatah Central Committee member Samir Al-Rifai, Ambassador of the State of Palestine in Damascus Mahmoud Al-Khaledi, and Director of the PLO Political Department Anwar Abd Al-Hadi.
The delegation emphasized the depth of the Palestinian-Syrian relations, and the constant cooperation between the two leaderships, the Syrian and the Palestinian…
During the meeting, the delegation presented the American administration’s attempts to eliminate the Palestinian cause on the way to realizing the Zionist dream –‘Greater Israel’ – which is a practical translation of the so-called deal of the century (i.e., US President Donald Trump’s as yet unpublished Middle East peace plan)…
The delegation emphasized that what is taking place in Syria is part of the plot, whose goal is to crown Israel as the power in the Middle East by dismantling a number of Arab states, as [first Israeli Prime Minister David] Ben Gurion dreamed, who would say that Israel’s power does not lay in its atomic bomb, but rather in the dismantlement of the three entities around it (Iraq, Syria, and Egypt) [parentheses in source]…
The delegation emphasized that Syria is recovering and that the plot is nearing its end. It added that Syria stands tall as in the past, and along with the Palestinian people constitutes the spearhead of the defense of the Arab nation and Arab honor, especially considering the fact that Syria is one of the greatest supporters of the Palestinian position and [the Palestinian people’s] rights and legitimacy, and opposes all forms of normalization with the occupation…
Mekdad… said: ‘In the end, we in Syria believe that Israel has a direct role in all the attempts being made in Syria to bring it to its end and to harm its territorial unity and the unity of its people. We say that Israel stands behind all the destruction, killing, and bloodshed on Syrian land, and it is the one that is encouraging the armed terror groups.’”
