Abbas’ advisor during visit to Malaysia describes Israeli “attacks” on Jerusalem and holy sites, including allowing “settlers” to “invade” and “desecrate” Al-Aqsa; All Muslims should come to Jerusalem to defend it and “carry out Ribat”
"Supreme Shari’ah Judge of Palestine and [PA] President [Mahmoud Abbas’] Advisor on Religious and Islamic Relations Mahmoud Al-Habbash met yesterday [June 12, 2019] with Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad in the capital, Kuala Lumpur, and gave him a letter from President Abbas…
At the reception that Mufti of the Federation of Malaysia Mohamad Al-Bakri held for the supreme Shari'ah judge of Palestine, Mufti [Al-Bakri] again called on Muslims throughout the world to visit Jerusalem and to carry out Ribat (i.e., religious conflict/war over land claimed to be Islamic) at the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, particularly the religious scholars and clergy who influence their societies. The Malaysian mufti emphasized the importance of this for the soul of the Palestinians, when they see their Muslim brothers standing alongside them in their time of trials, and also as a message to the occupation state that Jerusalem is not solely for the Palestinians, but it is rather a city of all Muslims throughout the world.
Al-Habbash discussed with the Malaysian mufti the role of Muslims in strengthening the resolve of the residents of Jerusalem and defending the Al-Aqsa Mosque in the shadow of the escalation of the Israeli attacks against the Palestinian capital and against the Holy Sanctuary of Jerusalem. He gave a detailed explanation of Israel's attacks against the residents of Jerusalem, the most blatant of which is the prevention of the freedom to reach the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, by imposing a full siege on the mosque and limiting the Muslim’s freedom of worship… while the occupation authorities are allowing extremists and the most extreme settlers to invade the mosque’s plazas and desecrate it, under the full protection of the occupation police and with the participation of ministers of [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu's government.
Al-Habbash demanded that the Muslim clergy and scholars carry out their true role and strengthen the importance of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the sanctified city among the young people and the Islamic societies, especially since Jerusalem is the spiritual capital of all Muslims in the world, and in it are the First Direction of Prayer, the second mosque, and the third holiest place for Islam; and it is a part of the Muslims’ faith, and they are obligated to defend it alongside their Palestinian brothers, who are the spearhead in defending the Muslims' honor.
A call was also [directed] to all Muslims that can to come to Jerusalem in order to visit the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, carry out Ribat there, and see up close the circumstances of the residents of Jerusalem… and to strengthen their resolve.
Al-Habbash gave [Malaysian] Mufti Mohamad Al-Bakri an official invitation on behalf of the State of Palestine to visit Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque in order to get to know the suffering of its residents and the siege being imposed on the Holy Sanctuary of Jerusalem, as part of the Malaysian support for the Palestinians’ rights to freedom and liberation from the occupation."
