PA PM: Israel and the US are destroying the chance for a Palestinian state; Salaries for prisoners was agreed upon in the Oslo Accords

Headline: “Shtayyeh: Holland and the states that consider themselves committed to the two-state solution must recognize Palestine”

“[PA] Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh met yesterday [Aug. 6, 2019] with Dutch Consul Kees van Baar at his office in Ramallah, and discussed the latest developments in Palestine with him.

The prime minister said: ‘Israel and the American administration are systematically destroying the chances of establishing the Palestinian state in order to maintain the present situation – especially by isolating Gaza and besieging it, expanding the settlements, expropriating lands, and removing Jerusalem from any political solution.’

Shtayyeh added: ‘Holland, the European Union states, and the rest of the world's states that have not recognized the Palestinian state and consider themselves committed to supporting the two-state solution must hurry up and recognize the State of Palestine in the 1967 borders whose capital is Jerusalem, in order to save the two-state solution from collapse.’

He said: ‘We will continue to support the Martyrs’ families and the prisoners in the occupation’s prison. The aid given to them was agreed upon in the Oslo Accords’ (sic., the PA’s payment of terror salaries is a direct breach of many provisions of the Oslo Accords requiring the PA to combat terror and incitement).”
