PA security forces arrest journalist for “acts that deviate from the framework of freedom of expression and constitute a crime”

“The [PA] Preventive Security Forces say: ‘The arrest of citizen Thaer Al-Fakhouri (see note below –Ed.) was carried out following the news of  suspicions that he committed acts that deviate from the framework of freedom of expression and constitute a crime in terms of the existing laws, and this has no connection to his journalistic work.’”

Palestinian journalist Thaer Al-Fakhouri was arrested on July 24, 2019, by the PA Security Forces following a video that was uploaded to social media and deals with people working with the Security Forces. Al-Fakhouri has worked mainly with Hamas-affiliated media outlets and was already arrested by the PA previously in 2017.
