Abbas’ advisor: “The liberation of Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque is the basis for addressing all of the problems from which humanity suffers”
"Supreme Shari'ah Judge of Palestine and [PA] President [Mahmoud Abbas'] Advisor on Religious Affairs and Islamic Relations Mahmoud Al-Habbash visited the International Islamic Sham Center for the war on terror and extremism… located in Damascus, the capital of Syria…
During his meeting with the center's management, Al-Habbash said that Islam's message is based on tolerance and moderation…
Al-Habbash visited the Ummayad Mosque and the Sultan Saladin Al-Ayyubi Mausoleum (i.e., Al-Ayyubi was the founder of the 12th-13th century Ayyubid dynasty) …
He discussed the liberation of Jerusalem by [Al-Ayyubi], after it was under Crusader occupation for more than 100 years, and emphasized that the liberation of Jerusalem from the Israeli occupation is only a matter of time, sooner or later.
The supreme Shari'ah judge emphasized that the cause of Jerusalem and the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque is part of the Islamic faith, and that the fact that the Jerusalem Noble Sanctuary (i.e., the Temple Mount) continues to moan under the yoke of the occupation and that Muslims are prevented from absolutely freely praying there is creating fertile ground for the spread of tension and violence in the region, and even in the entire world. He added that the Muslims will not agree to the continued occupation of the First Direction of Prayer [Jerusalem], and emphasized that the liberation of Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque is the basis for addressing all of the problems from which humanity suffers."
Mahmoud Al-Habbash also holds the position of Chairman of the Supreme Council for Shari'ah Justice.
