PA rejects construction of hospital on Gaza border: Part of “deal of the century”, meant to break connection between Gaza and West Bank
Headline: “With American funding: A hospital in the northern Gaza Strip to perpetuate the break [in relations between the West Bank and the Gaza Strip]”
“Israeli media outlets have published that the understandings between Israel and the Hamas Movement will move on to a new stage and include the execution of a number of important projects, including beginning the planning for the establishment of a large field hospital with 16 departments in the area next to the Beit Hanoun crossing in the northern Gaza Strip, which is under full Israeli control.
The Israeli newspaper Yediot Aharonot said that an international medical staff will supervise the hospital, which will be funded by an American organization. It noted that ‘This will guarantee a large improvement for sick people in Gaza, and particularly those sick with cancer.’
Observers think that the main goal of the establishment of this hospital is to perpetuate the break [in relations] between the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, especially in the medical aspect, since the occupation is trying to take control of the referral of the sick to the West Bank and instead refer them to this hospital. By doing so it will contribute to perpetuating the complete break between the West Bank and the Gaza Strip and preventing the establishment of the Palestinian state.
[PA] Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh said in a press release: ‘Nobody has coordinated with us on the matter of the hospital that they intend to establish on the northern border of the Gaza Strip with the funding of a private American organization and Israeli agreement. We do not know the nature of this institute or who it is under, but the [PA] government is prepared to sit and discuss the project.’

[PA] Minister of Culture Mai Al-Kaila said that the hospital that the American and Israeli side are meant to establish on the northern border of the Gaza Strip is part of the deal of the century (i.e., US President Donald Trump’s as yet unpublished Middle East peace plan), with the goal of achieving a full break between the West Bank and the Gaza Strip under a humanitarian pretext.”
