Head of PLO Prisoners’ Commission: Israel has “systematic policy of medical killing” of Palestinian prisoners

Headline: “Abu Bakr: Prisoners Al-Sayeh and Abu Diak are in very poor health”

Director of [PLO] Commission of Prisoners' Affairs Qadri Abu Bakr yesterday [Sept. 1, 2019] warned of a deterioration in the health of sick prisoners Bassam Al-Sayeh (i.e., terrorist, involved in murder of 2) from Nablus and Sami Abu Diak (i.e., terrorist, see note below) from Jenin. He emphasized that they are liable to become Martyrs at any moment due to the systematic policy of medical killing

Abu Bakr said this while visiting… a number of families of the Ramallah and El-Bireh district prisoners: the family of prisoner Jihad Maala (sic., Jad Maala, terrorist, see note below) who was arrested more than 19 years ago; the family of prisoner Walid Al-Sakhawi (PMW was unable to determine the nature of his crimes –Ed.) who has already been in the occupation’s prison for 15 years; and the family of prisoner Ashraf Abu Hweij (PMW was unable to determine the nature of his crimes –Ed.) who was arrested 19 years ago…

Abu Bakr warned of the deterioration in the health of prisoner Sami Abu Diak, who has been sick with cancer for three years. Previously he suffered from a deliberate medical mistake after undergoing intestinal surgery in September 2015, following which he suffered poisoning and kidney and lung failure. Afterwards he underwent three surgeries and remained under general anesthesia for a month while connected to a ventilator.

Abu Bakr and his entourage also visited the family of prisoner Rabi Khalifa (PMW was unable to determine the nature of his crimes and the crimes of the following three prisoners –Ed.) who was arrested 15 years ago; the family of prisoner Ziyad Zahran who was arrested 18 years ago; the family of prisoner Muhammad Abu Zaher who was arrested 19 years ago; and the family of prisoner Mahmoud Haskour.”
