Abbas implies violence: “It is our right to defend our rights and achieve our goals by all available means”
Headline: "The [PA] president: All of the agreements that have been signed with Israel will reach their end if it applies sovereignty to any part of the Palestinian land
- It is our right to defend our rights and achieve our goals through all available means, regardless of the consequences
- The Arab League: Netanyahu's plan is destroying the chance for any progress in the peace process, and destroying all of its foundations"
"[PA] President Mahmoud Abbas emphasized that all of the agreements that have been signed with the Israeli side and all of the commitments stemming from them will reach their end if the Israeli side applies Israeli sovereignty to the Jordan Valley, northern Dead Sea, or any part of the Palestinian territories that were occupied in 1967.
The president said: 'It is our right to defend our rights and achieve our goals by all available means (i.e., term used by Palestinians, which also refers to the use of violence and terror) regardless of the consequences, as [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu's decisions contradict the decisions of the international institutions and international law.'
He said this in response to the [Sept. 10, 2019] declaration of occupation Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who said [on Sept. 8, 2019] that he would apply Israeli sovereignty to the Jordan Valley, northern Dead Sea, and a number of settlements if he wins the elections (see note below –Ed.)."
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said: "There will be no more uprooting [of Jewish settlements]. With God’s help we will apply Jewish sovereignty over all communities as part of the land of Israel and the State of Israel,” while visiting Elkana, on the West Bank, east of Tel Aviv, on Sept. 1, 2019. Netanyahu also said: “Our mission is to establish the Jewish people in its land and to ensure our sovereignty in our historical homeland,” while visiting Beit El, on the West Bank, north of Jerusalem, on Aug. 8, 2019.
