PA, Fatah, Al-Quds Open University hold event honoring families of “Martyrs” and prisoners

Headline: “The Political Guidance Commission honored the families of the Martyrs and the prisoners in the Salfit district”

“The [PA] Political and National Guidance Commission in the Salfit district yesterday, Tuesday [April 23, 2019], honored the families of the Martyrs and the prisoners in a ceremony that Al-Quds Open University held in partnership with the Fatah Movement and the [Fatah] Shabiba Student [Movement], as part of the Palestinian Prisoner’s Day events.

Salfit District Governor Ibrahim Al-Balawi, Fatah Branch Secretary in the [Salfit] District Abd Al-Sattar Awwad, District Commander Ehab Al-Sa’idni, leaders and representatives of the [PA] Security Forces and directors of the civilian institutions, Um Nasser Abu Hmeid (i.e., mother of terrorists responsible for at least 10 murders; see note below), and families of prisoners and Martyrs from the district’s villages and cities were present at the ceremony.

Al-Balawi said: ‘Our people and its leadership are drawing determination and diligence from the relatives of the prisoners and Martyrs, whose number has exceeded a million and who have illustrated the loftiest displays of unity with their blood and suffering.’ …

Awwad emphasized that the talk about the prisoners and Martyrs is talk about a noble Palestinian people and a leadership that is defying the entire world in order to achieve the national goals of ending the occupation and achieving independence.

He added that the district is standing against the settlement government’s plots and is capable of standing against all of the occupation’s steps. He also expressed his faith that by next Prisoner’s Day all of the prisoners will be released, and that this will be the year of the Palestinian state and Jerusalem.

In a speech on behalf of the Political and National Guidance Commission, Director of the Security Information Center Abd Al-Karim Abu Arqoub said that… the processions of Martyrs and prisoners will not cease as long as our land is occupied and the path of the struggle continues, and the occupation authorities’ attempts to dissuade our people from continuing in its struggle by implementing collective punishment against the families of the prisoners and the Martyrs will fail thanks to the Palestinians’ persistence.”
