Headline: “Marking the 71st anniversary of the Nakba in Tubas”
“Dozens of citizens and prominent figures from the Tubas district participated in a rally yesterday [May 14, 2019] to mark the 71st anniversary of the Nakba (i.e., “the catastrophe,” the Palestinian term for the establishment of the State of Israel) and the expulsion of our people from its land by the Zionist gangs in 1948…
Tubas and Northern [Jordan] Valley District Governor Younes Al-Asi said: ‘The Palestinian people will not forget its land, and the Palestinian generations will pass the flag from one to the next. We will not renounce our right.’
Fatah Movement Secretary in Tubas Mahmoud Sawafta said: ‘All of the Palestinian generations have not forgotten this anniversary, which pains the Palestinian people. The occupation was mistaken when it thought that the adults would die and the young would forget.’ He emphasized that the occupation’s end is to pass, as all of the occupations in this land have passed, and that our people will triumph, achieve its rights, and establish its state.”
