PA official attacks Hamas: Hamas launched missiles against Tel Aviv to stop civil unrest in Gaza, despite Hamas denial

Official PA TV, broadcast of Friday sermon by Supreme Shari’ah Judge, PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’ advisor on Religious and Islamic Affairs, and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Shari'ah Justice Mahmoud Al-Habbash at a mosque in Ramallah

Supreme Shari’ah Judge, PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’ advisor on Religious and Islamic Affairs, and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Shari'ah Justice Mahmoud Al-Habbash: “I will say something, and I know that they will make me account for it before the Just King, before the Clear Justice [Allah]. I will tell the truth, brothers: All of the movements, associations, and parties whose names begin with ‘Islamic’ – I swear by Allah that they have absolutely no part in this name, at least at the level of behavior. We have experienced this. What is the difference between what is being done to people in Gaza by Hamas and ISIS’ actions in Iraq and Syria, what is the difference? The same sights, because it is the same mentality, the same path, the same warped thinking… that has no connection to the path of Allah’s Messenger [Muhammad]…

Hamas and its sisters are chicks that have emerged from the belly of the [Muslim] Brotherhood. They have all covered themselves with the cloak of religion. Religion is something respected by people. All people respect religion. And they once covered themselves with resistance… as if the resistance began with them. People- the Palestinian people is resisting from the first moment, from the days of the Balfour Promise (i.e., Declaration). The resistance did not begin with you, and you are not its masters. The resistance is the entire Palestinian people. The resistance is the Martyrs (Shahids) who fell here. The resistance is the Murabitin (i.e., those carrying out Ribat, religious conflict/war to protect land claimed to be Islamic) who are standing in the plazas and at the gates of the Al-Aqsa Mosque… that is the resistance. The resistance is not a show; when a number of rockets are launched – without connection to the different opinions on this matter – [Hamas] go out to renounce them, and do not dare say a word, even though they certainly did it in order to bring down the popular movement of the people in Gaza (refers to civil unrest against Hamas’ corruption –Ed.).”

The Balfour Declaration of Nov. 2, 1917 was a letter from British Foreign Secretary Arthur Balfour to Baron Rothschild stating that "His Majesty's government views with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people." In 1922, the League of Nations adopted this and made the British Mandate "responsible for putting into effect the declaration," which led to the UN vote in favor of partitioning Mandatory Palestine into a Jewish state and an Arab state in 1947. In response, Britain ended its mandate on May 15, 1948, and the Palestinian Jews, who accepted the Partition Plan, declared the independent State of Israel. The Palestinian Arabs rejected the plan and together with 7 Arab states attacked Israel, in what is now known as Israel's War of Independence.
