PLO official to Syrian deputy minister: Arabs must cooperate to expose “racist plans and Israel's settlement plans”

"Secretary-General of the PLO Political Bureau Anwar Abd Al-Hadi briefed Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad on the latest developments in the situation in the region and in the Palestinian territories.

During the meeting, Abd Al-Hadi emphasized the need for Arab cooperation in order to expose the racist plans and Israel's settlement plans, and to condemn [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu's statements regarding annexing parts of the West Bank (see note below –Ed.). He also emphasized the need for the UN to take punitive steps against Israel at the General Assembly during its current session."

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sept. 10, 2019: “Today, I announce my intention, after the establishment of a new government, to apply Israeli sovereignty to the Jordan Valley and the northern Dead Sea." He also said: "There will be no more uprooting [of Jewish settlements]. With God’s help we will apply Jewish sovereignty over all communities as part of the land of Israel and the State of Israel,” while visiting Elkana, ion the West Bank, east of Tel Aviv, on Sept. 1, 2019, and: “Our mission is to establish the Jewish people in its land and to ensure our sovereignty in our historical homeland,” while visiting Beit El, ion the West Bank, north of Jerusalem, on Aug. 8, 2019.
