The government decided as follows:
- To recommend to [PA] President [Mahmoud Abbas] to amend clause 5 of the 1976 Law on the Status of Women, which limits the age of marriage, such that the age will be 18 for both genders, with exceptions that the supreme Shari’ah judge will determine.”
