PA daily op-ed calls Israeli army “murderous army of the sons of Zion”
Excerpt of an op-ed by Omar Hilmi Al-Ghoul, regular columnist for the official PA daily
Headline: “‘Bahiya’ has descended from the stage”
“The talented Egyptian artist [actress] Mohsena Tawfiq… illustrated her fighting role in her firm stand alongside all of the liberation struggle causes, and particularly the central cause of the Arabs, the cause of Palestine and the defense of the modern Palestinian revolution, when she crossed the high waves of the sea with many Egyptian and Arab artists in order to reach the capital of the Arabs [Beirut] that was besieged by the Israeli army of death and the wild fleets of the US during the invasion of sister Lebanon in June 1982 (i.e., the First Lebanon War)…
The Egyptian ‘Bahiya’ (refers to a famous role played by Tawfiq –Ed.) went among the bases and posts of confrontation, contributed with her courage and the courage of her talented male and female artist colleagues to the spirit of giving and fighting among her brothers the Palestinian and Lebanese self-sacrificing fighters (Fedayeen) and – together with everyone who endured the suffering of reaching Beirut that was besieged by the murderous army of the sons of Zion – declared her support for the revolution and for the brotherly Arab people in Palestine and the brotherly people in Lebanon.”
