Abbas’ office condemns killing of Islamic Jihad leader and holds Israel responsible for the “consequences” – i.e. rocket attacks against Israeli civilians

“The [PA] presidential office condemned the ongoing Israeli crime against our people in the Gaza Strip, which caused the death of a citizen (i.e., Baha Abu Al-Ata, terrorist responsible for numerous attacks) and his wife as Martyrs, and the wounding of his children after their house in the Shuja’iyya neighborhood of Gaza City was attacked.

The presidential office held the Israeli occupation government fully responsible for the consequences of the deterioration of the situation in the Gaza Strip.

It also demanded that the international community force the Israeli government to immediately stop the aggression and provide urgent protection for our people wherever they are.”

Baha Abu Al-Ata – senior commander of the Islamic Jihad terror organization in Gaza who was responsible for most of the organization’s terror activity and planned numerous rocket, sniper, drone, and other attacks against Israel.Abu Al-Ata was assassinated in an Israeli targeted rocket strike on Nov. 12, 2019. In response to Israel’s assassination Palestinian Islamic Jihad fired over 450 rockets at Israel over a period of 48 hours until a ceasefire was reached on Nov. 14, 2019, which Islamic Jihad promptly breached by firing 5 more rockets.
