PA official: “Jerusalem is Palestinian-Canaanite-Arab-Islamic,” Israeli-Jewish narrative is false
Headline: "Al-Habbash calls on the Muslim communities around the world to carry out Ribat in Jerusalem and at the Al-Aqsa Mosque"
"Supreme Shari'ah Judge of Palestine and [PA] President [Mahmoud Abbas'] advisor on Religious and Islamic Affairs Mahmoud Al-Habbash called on all of the Muslims around the world and on the Muslim communities scattered through all of the states… to visit Jerusalem, the spiritual capital of all Muslims, to carry out Ribat (i.e., religious conflict over land claimed to be Islamic) at the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque alongside their brothers the residents of Jerusalem, and to participate in defending Jerusalem's holy site…
Al-Habbash said this during a conference on the role of the Arab and Muslim communities around the world in supporting Jerusalem, in the framework of the events of the International Conference of Latin American and Caribbean Muslims, which is taking place in Sao Paulo [Brazil]…
He emphasized that the central battle today is the battle for awareness… and for the need to instill in the minds of future generations the Palestinian narrative – which is based on historical and religious foundations and cultural evidence that confirm that Jerusalem is Palestinian-Canaanite-Arab-Islamic – and to refute the Israeli stories that the occupation is marketing, which are based on falsifying facts and establishing facts on the ground without any historical basis. He noted that the Israeli narrative itself does not have a consensus among Jewish groups, and that there is a big disagreement between these groups regarding the sanctity of Jerusalem for the Jews. (sic., there is general agreement among Jewish groups that Jerusalem is holy to the Jews.)"
Mahmoud Al-Habbash also holds the position of Chairman of the Supreme Council for Shari'ah Justice.
