PA “demands” Palestinians “everywhere, act” to “thwart the [American-Israeli] plot to eliminate the Palestinian cause”

Headline: “With the attendance of the [PA] President: The [PA] leadership is holding special meetings to take steps to deal with the American decisions”

“With the attendance of [PA] President Mahmoud Abbas, the [PA] leadership has today (Tuesday) [Nov. 19, 2019] begun a series of special meetings in order to take the necessary steps to deal with the dangerous American decisions against the Palestinian cause, the latest of which was the statement of [US] Secretary of State [Mike] Pompeo regarding the settlements (Pompeo stated on Nov. 18, 2019, that the US does not consider Israeli settlements to be illegal according to international law –Ed.).

The leadership emphasized that there will be activity on the internal level, and that there will be meetings of the PLO Executive Committee, the Fatah Central Committee, the factions of national activity, civil society organizations, and the [PA] government in order to consider recommendations [regarding the steps] necessary to strengthen the home front and the popular resistance (i.e., term used by Palestinians, which also refers to the use of violence and terror)‎ in light of the American administration’s attempts to eliminate the Palestinian cause.

It emphasized that there will be activity on the Arab and international levels and that a petition will be made to the [UN] Security Council, the UN General Assembly, the Arab League, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in order to make crucial decisions whose goal is to defend the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people…

During its special meeting, the leadership demanded that the masses of the Palestinian people in the homeland and everywhere they are act in order to thwart the plot to eliminate the Palestinian cause.”

The terms "peaceful uprising/resistance,” and “popular uprising/resistance" are used by PA leaders at times to refer to peaceful protest and at times to refer to deadly terror attacks and terror waves. For example, ‎Mahmoud Abbas defined as “peaceful popular” the murderous terror during the 2015-2016 ‎terror wave (“The Knife Intifada”), in which 40 people were killed (36 Israelis, 1 Palestinian, 2 Americans and 1 Eritrean) and hundreds wounded in stabbings, shootings, and car ramming attacks. Abbas said: "We want peaceful popular uprising, and that’s what this is." https://palwatch.org/page/9276
