Fatah official: “We will escalate the struggle against the occupation and its settlers”

“Fatah Movement Deputy Chairman [and Fatah Central Committee member] Mahmoud Al-Aloul said: ‘Our response [to the new US position on Israeli settlements not being illegal] (see note below –Ed.) has begun by taking political steps at the global level, such as calling for meetings of the [UN] Security Council, UN General Assembly, and the Arab League.’ …

Al-Aloul added: ‘We have begun to coordinate in order to take steps on the ground. We will escalate the struggle against the occupation and its settlers. This matter is decided; decisions have been made on the matter and preparations have begun for it.’”

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced the US administration’s new position on Israeli towns in the West Bank on Nov. 18, 2019, stating: "After carefully studying all sides of the legal debate... the establishment of Israeli civilian settlements in the West Bank is not, per se, inconsistent with international law."
