PA TV glorifies Palestinian women who “have fought, sacrificed, and spilled blood for the liberation…and become Martyrs, wounded, or prisoners”

Official PA TV program Palestine This Morning, on a delegation of women visiting Damascus for Mother’s Day, hosting Fatah Central Committee member and Fatah Commissioner of NGOs Dalal Salameh

Official PA TV host: “Good morning to you, friends, and to all of the [official] PA TV viewers. Happy holiday and blessings to all of the mothers of Palestine. We will speak about them today. They are the heart and soul of Palestine, and the cream of the crop.

The Palestinian women have also succeeded in taking part in battles on various fronts. They have created the arenas of struggle within their homes by giving birth to heroes, and have created heroes. They have fought, sacrificed, and spilled blood for the liberation and the return [of the refugees], and they have become Martyrs (Shahidas), wounded, or prisoners who rebel in the darkness of the prison. They have also taken part in the struggle in the social field, and made a clear mark in formulating the consciousness within society. They are the Al-Khansas (i.e., famous mother of “Martyrs” from earliest period of Islam; see note below) of this period, the mainstays of the cause, and its wellsprings. The women of Palestine – the mothers of the Martyrs and prisoners – are mothers who have the stature of the homeland. Happy holiday to every Palestinian mother, who is a unceasing contribution and a factory for heroes and indefatigable endurance.”

Fatah Central Committee member and Fatah Commissioner of NGOs Dalal Salameh: “Good morning and happy holiday. First of all, allow me to actually send blessings to the women of Palestine – in other words, those with lofty national traits who have the stature of the homeland – and every woman and Palestinian mother for Mother’s Day. The month of March is the women’s month of March, from Women’s Day to Mother’s Day. This is the day of greatness and honor for our people, this is the day of Dalal Mughrabi (i.e., terrorist who led murder of 37, 12 of them children), the day of our fighting female Martyr, and also Palestinian Land Day (see note below –Ed.). [It is a month of] sacrifice and self-sacrifice, male and female Martyrs who fell for this important land and saturated the roots of the olive tree planted in the land with their blood.”

Host: “True.”

Al-Khansa - Arab woman and poet from the earliest period of Islam (7th century) famous and honored in Islamic tradition for rejoicing when all four of her sons died in battle as Martyrs. She has been lauded by the PA and often presented as a role model for mothers, and the PA has named 8 schools after her.

Dalal Mughrabi – female Palestinian terrorist who led the attack that (until Oct. 7, 2023) was the most lethal terror attack in Israel’s history, known as the Coastal Road massacre, in 1978, when she and other Fatah terrorists hijacked a bus on Israel's Coastal Highway, murdering 37 civilians, 12 of them children, and wounding over 70. In text note: (i.e., terrorist who led murder of 37, 12 of them children)
