Friday sermon musters support for 'defense of Al-Aqsa'
Headline: “50,000 held Friday prayers at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and calls to defend it from the settlers’ invasions”
“Imam and Preacher of the Al-Aqsa Mosque [and Head of the Supreme Muslim Council] Ikrima Sabri called in his Friday sermon to come to the Al-Aqsa Mosque next week in order to stand against the settler groups, after the so-called alleged ‘Temple Institute’ recently declared its intent to carry out increased invasions of the Al-Aqsa Mosque for the Jewish holidays (i.e., Hanukkah, beginning on the evening of Dec. 22, 2019).”
The PA and its leaders consider all of the Temple Mount an integral part of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Therefore they view any presence of Jews on the mount as an “invasion” or a "break-in." It should be noted that Jews who visit the Temple Mount only enter some sections of the open areas, and do not enter the Al-Aqsa Mosque or the Dome of the Rock. Israeli police ban Jewish prayer at the Temple Mount because of threats of violence by Palestinians.
